Nothing to worry on EC notice over CD- BJP
Lucknow, Apr 5 (UNI) The BJP today said it would satisfy the Election Commission which has decided to issue a notice to the party for releasing a controversial CD that contains ''objectionable'' remarks against Muslims and visuals of Godhra arson and Babri demolition.
''The Bharatiya Janata Party has already tendered unconditional apology for the same and even withdrawn the CD,'' the state BJP President Keshri Nath Tripathi said at 'meet the press' programme at UP press club here this afternoon.
Making it clear that the BJP would never like to take electoral advantage of this, he said the party had withdrawn the CD immediately when it 'received ' objections. He, however, refused to divulge from where the BJP received objections on the contents of the controversial CD.
The UP BJP chief brushed aside the claim of producers of the CD that the senior party leaders had already seen and approved it for the release. ''None of the senior leaders has seen the CD and the party functionery found responsible for the release was removed from the post yesterday,'' he said.
The CD in a twin pack titled UP Victimised was released as part of the party's Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections campaign on Tuesday and its contents have evoked a strong reaction from a cross section of political parties.
The Election Commission has decided to issue the notice after perusing the contents of the CD, EC sources said.
