Make India a developed nation before 2020: Kalam
New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today exhorted the people to take a pledge to turn India into a developed nation before 2020 on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of Babu Jagjivan Ram's birth anniversary.
This goal should the nation's second vision after independence, Dr Kalam said in his Babu Jagjivan Ram Centenary Lecture here.
By this singular resolve, the nation would be paying the greatest homage to Babu Jagjivan Ram who was an example of development politics and who saw in political power an opportunity to transform people's life and promote their welfare by bold and well thought out plans, the President said.
Having interacted with more than 1.5 million youth in the country, he said he had experienced the feeling that no other challenge could inspire the younger generation of India than transforming India into an economically developed, strong, prosperous, happy and peaceful nation.
