K'taka Council pays tribute to Tejasvi
Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) The Karnataka Legislative Council today mourned the death of renowned Kannada writer Poornachandra Tejasvi, who passed away this afternoon.
As soon as the House assembled after lunch adjournment, newly elected Chairman Prof B K Chandrashekhar moved a condolence motion on the death of the writer. Tejasvi was a great writer and humanist and provided voice to the voiceless in the society. He was also a great thinker and environmentalist, who strove hard for cleansing the public system of corruption. ''With the death of Tejasvi, the Kannada literary world has lost a great asset,'' he said.
Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy, Home Minister M P Prakash, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti, Leader of the Opposition H K Patil, Congress members V S Ugrappa, Umashree, V S Sudarshan, Dr L Hanumanthaiah, JD(S) member Srikante Gowda, BJP's Manohar Maski and Mukyamantri Chandru also expressed grief over the death of Tejasvi.
The House observed a minute's silence for the departed soul after adopting the condolence motion.
