IT sector has the most mobile workforce

Bangalore, Apr 5 (UNI) The Information Technology sector in the country has one of the most mobile work force with more than 75 per cent of the 1.1 million professionals working with their current employer for less than two years, the second CyberMedia Dice-TNS survey on IT job seekers reveal.

According to the survey, released here today, nearly 63 per cent of the IT professionals have less than five years of work experience in IT or IT related field. The survey was based on 1886 respondents from among 350,000 members enrolled on CyberMedia Dice, a dedicated technology job site. The findings were an eye-opener even to the 1.1 million it professionals in the country.

The survey also indicated that more than 70 per cent of the IT professionals have been promoted in the last one year. Nearly 60 per cent of the respondents have posted their resumes on job portals even though they were haooy and committed showing that they were shopping around for the best deal in town for someone with their skills and experience.

Commenting on the highlights of the survey, Mr Abraham Karimpanal, Head of the Technology Practices of TNS India, told newsmen that nearly a fourth of the job seeking IT professionals were extremely happy and committed a lot.

Talking about the next generation IT professionals, Mr Pradeep Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of CyberMedia said they were restless and very ambitious, looking for a fast track career growth.

The challenge before the industry was to meet their aspirations and ambitions.

The study revealed that the commitment of IT professionals to their organisation was very high in the first year on job.

Subsequently it dwindles.

It also indicated that professionals at junior to middle level with a gross salary of Rs five lakh were more committed than those at the middle or senior level with an annual pay packet of over Rs 12 lakh.

According to the survey the western region has the highest average annual salary of Rs 4.91 lakh followed by South with Rs 4.79 lakh, East offered the lowest pay packet of Rs 4.12 lakh.

Among the cities the average salry of IT professionals in Bangalore and Gurgaon was over Rs Six lakh, while the cost to company for IT Professionals in Chennai and Hyderabad was around Rs 4.5 lakhs per annum.
