IMA to honour five musicians

New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The Indian Music Academy will honour five legends of Indian Music -- Ali Akbar Khan, Dr Balamurali Krishna, Girija Devi, Maestro Illaiyaraja and Asha Bhonsle -- at a function to be inaugurated by President A P J Abdul Kalam here at Pragati Maidan on Monday.

The second year of the IMA will also be launched the same day where the agenda of the Academy will be announced for 2007-2008.

Popular Punjabi Pop Singer Daler Mehndi will enthrall the audience with his hit numbers. There will be performances by two extraordinary singers Jaswinder Singh and Runa Rizvi. From this year IMA will promote Ghazal, Bhajan, Sufi and both the genres of Indian classical music.

The highlight of the evening will be the performance by living legend Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
