HC stays arrest of Amarinder Singh in CC case
Chandigarh, Apr 5: The Punjab and Haryana High Court today stayed with immediate effect the arrest of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur.
An order to this effect was passed by Justice Ranjit Singh after preliminary hearing on the petition filed jointly by Capt Amarinder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur, a Lok Sabha member from Patiala parliamentary constituency.
The court also issued notice to the Punjab government for July 30 to filing response to the bail plea of Capt Amarinder Singh and his wife.
Capt Singh had sought bail in connection with the case registered against him and 17 others under the Prevention of Corruption Act by the State Vigilance Bureau at Ludhiana on March 23 about alleged illegalities and corruption in the City Centre project of Improvement Trust, Ludhiana to be executed by New Delhi-based company Today Homes.
