Eights new MLCS administered Oath

Jammu, Apr 5 (UNI) Eight newly elected members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council took oath of office at a simple function organized in legislature house here today.

Acting Chairman Legislative Council P Namgyal administered oath to Former Power Minister Mohammad Sharief (Niaz) Bhat, Ali Mohammad, Mohammad Amin Bhat and Rajinder Singh Chib from Congress, Nizam-Ud-Din Khatana and Murtaza Ahmad Khan represent people Democratic party (PDP), Mohammad Yousuf Taing and Devinder Singh Rana from National Conference.

It may be mentioned that eight seats of upper house including Chairman Abdul Rashid Dar fell vacant on March 17, 2007 and seats were filled by declaring above eight candidates elected unopposed.

Secretary legislative council G R Mehboobi was present on the occasion besides a large gathering.
