Davkhare-Rao controversy figured in the upper house

Mumbai, Apr 5 (UNI) The war of words going on between Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Vasant Davkhare and union leader Sharad Rao (both NCP), figured in the upper house today.

Shiv sena leader Madhukarrao Sarpotdar raised the issue in the house and said the statements, appeared in a section of press against Mr Davkhare, is affecting the dignity of the house since he is the Presiding officer.

It may be recalled that Mr Rao, a trade union leader had given a call for auto rickshaw bandh in Thane city recently. Mr Davkhare, who also belongs to Thane, took the stand against the Bandh.

Later Rao postponed his autorickshaw strike. Incidentally, both Mr Davkhare and Mr Rao belongs to NCP. However, Rao had made several allegations against Mr Davkhare which appeared in a section of press.

Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said,''we will try to sort out the matter between the two by holding a meeting while NCP General Secretary and MLC Gurunath Kulkarni said Mr Rao will be reprimanded for his statements.
