New Delhi, Apr 5 (UNI) The BJP today said that it received no notice from the Election Commission on the controversial Compact Disc, to be used in UP elections, as reported by some news channels.

BJP Spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the only communication received so far on the issue was a letter from the Additional Chief Electoral Officer asking for a copy of the CD which allegedly was branded as 'offensive to Muslim sentiments' by a news channel. "There is no other letter or communique", he told newspersons.

He said the party had not released any CD for poll campaign as claimed by a news channel. "It was an inadvertant mistake on the part of an individual -- Mr Manoj Mishra and he has been sacked for the wrongdoing by the U P BJP", he remarked.

The party maintains that the CD had been released inadvertantly and the senior leader Lalji Tandon was not aware of the content when it was released at Lucknow on Tuesday.

Asked what would be the party do if the EC were to issue notice to BJP for breaking the Election Code, he replied "We can't start answering questions as some students do in examinations even before receiving question papers".

Party sources said they were ''puzzled'' by the way in which the contents of the notice reaching the media even before it was served.
