Jammu, Apr 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to buy 150 new buses for state road Transport Corporation at a cost of Rs 15 crore, transport Minister Hakim Mohammad Yasin said here today.

The move, Mr Yasin said, is to revitalise the corporation to cater to the public demands.

At a high level meeting of transport officials, the Minister said new buses would also be operated in the hilly and in accident prone areas like Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and other places in the state.

He directed the authorities to fix modalities with the ngo, who had offered vehicles to srtc on rent, and said various measures were underway to make the corporation a profitable organisation.

The state, which has tourism as its main income generating source, has a poor road infrastructure because of its hilly terrains.
