Surya Kiran, Sarang to perform at Air Show 2007
Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 4: The world famous Surya Kiran Aerobic team, the Sarang team of helicopters, Air Devils (skydiving team) and a musical fest will be showcased as part of the Southern Air Command's Air Show 2007.
The
Air
Show,
being
conducted
as
part
of
the
IAF's
platinum
jubilee
celebrations,
would
begin
at
Panambur
beach
in
Mangalore
on
April
8.
The
Surya
Kiran
Aerobic
team
would
pervade
the
skies
of
Mangalore
on
two
days.
The
team
would
be
led
by
Wing
Commander
Sandeep
Bansal.
Apart
from
Mangalore,
the
air
shows
would
be
held
at
Kochi,
Thiruvananthapuram
and
Madurai,
Southern
Air
Command
AOC-in-C
Air
Marshal
Yeshwant
Rao
Rane
told
reporters
here.
The
Surya
Kiran
team
and
the
Sarang
team
would
be
displaying
their
skills
at
Kochi
on
April
14
and
15
and
at
Thiruvananthapuram
on
April
17-18.
The
people
of
Thiruvananthapuram
would
get
an
opportunity
to
witness
''Air
Devils'',
the
parachuting
team
popularly
known
as
''Akash
Ganga
Team'',
sky
diving
over
the
open
sea.
The
Air
Warriors
Symphony
Orchestra
and
the
Air
force
orchestra,
would
also
perform
a
musical
bonanza
for
the
people
of
Thiruvananthapuram.
At
Madurai,
only
the
Surya
Kiran
team
would
be
displaying
their
skills
on
April
24-25.
Air
Marshal
Rane
said
the
main
idea
behind
the
air
show
was
not
just
to
showcase
the
skills
of
the
force
but
also
to
create
an
awareness
among
the
people
about
the
force.
''Through
these
shows
conducted
across
the
country
as
part
of
the
platinum
jubilee
celebration,
the
IAF
wants
to
tell
people
what
the
Air
force
is
doing
and
also
motivate
them
to
join
the
force,''
he
added.
