New Delhi, Apr 4: Expressing concern about the reports of existence of fake identity cards in Etawah, the home district of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, the BJP today urged the Election Commission to 'postpone' polls if necessary to ensure prompt corrective measures. In his letter to Central Election Commissioner, BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi alleged that there were reports about large scale manipulations in areas represented by Mr Yadav's supporters and said the EC should take note of these complaints and initiate 'prompt and corrective' action to restore people's confidence in the fairness of poll process.

Bringing notice about 34 districts of UP in the state turning into a ''home for growing network of anti-national and terrorist elements,'' Mr Naqvi said the state administration had expressed its inability to provide adequate security cover for several senior BJP leaders involved in poll campaigning in polls.

BJP Leaders like L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, M Venkaiah Naidu, Narendra Modi and some state leaders were under terrorist threat and they should be provided with security during the campaign, he said.
