Memon brothers may withdraw the bail plea

withdraw
their
bail
plea
moved
on
medical
grounds
on
the
next
date
of
hearing
on
April
5,
according
to
defence
lawyer
Subhas
Kanse
who
met
them
at
Arthur
Road
Jail
where
there
are
lodged.
Yaqoob
Memon,
Yusuf
Memon
and
Issa
Memon,
the
three
brothers
of
prime
absconding
accused
Tiger
Memon
had
earlier
moved
the
bail
plea
on
september
12
last
year
after
they
were
convicted
by
the
designated
court
under
the
TADA
act
for
their
involvement
in
serial
blast
case
which
rocked
the
metropolis
on
March
12,
1993.
Yaqoob,
a
Chartered
Accountant
by
profession,
is
suffering
from
neurological
problem,
however
Issa
and
Yusuf
are
suffering
from
skin
disease
and
other
ailments.
All
of
them
contended
the
court
to
grant
them
interim
bail
to
enable
to
receive
treatment
in
private
hospital
at
their
expense.
Yusuf
and
Issa
were
on
bail
on
medical
grounds
but
were
taken
into
custody
after
they
were
convicted
by
the
court.
Their
bail
plea
came
up
for
hearing
yesterday
before
TADA
judge
P
D
Kode
who
had
adjourned
the
hearing
till
April
5
as
their
advocates
were
not
present.
As
a
rule,
the
court
cannot
grant
a
bail
to
a
convict
after
he
was
found
guilty
and
the
court
can
direct
the
jail
authorities
or
government
run
hospitals
to
give
treatment
to
the
accused.
It
may
be
recalled
that
on
April
19,
the
court
will
pronounce
the
quantum
of
punishment
phase
wise
to
be
awarded
to
the
100
convicts
which
include
cine
star
Sanjay
Dutt,
members
of
Memon
family
and
others.
