India's first GIS mapping centre goes hi-tech
Kohima, Apr 4: After receiving the pride of having India's first Geographic Information System (GIS), Nagaland has also launched its own GIS website yesterday.
Official sources here today said the website had been designed and developed by GIS Cell under the State's Planning department and was linked to the state's official website, www.nagaland.nic.in.
The website could provide any information on the state, including roads, railways, airports, towns, major rivers, industries, polling stations and villages and their jurisdictions with break up of population, hospitals, tourist spots, business centres, power stations, schools, panchayat halls and areas where the famous Naga Raja Mircha is grown.
Nagaland Planning and Coordination Minister Shurhozelie while launchng the website said the government had earlier acquired about 90 Topo sheets from GIS and suggested the GIS Cell to make good use of it.
