HP-AMD unveils new entry level server for SMBs

Bangalore, Apr 4: HP today announced a new range of HP ProLiant ML 115 Server designed to meet the growing IT and budgetary demands of Small and Medium Businesses in India.

With an entry level price of Rs 35,000 for the basic server, the new server had been developed by HP in conjunction with AMD and was powered by the second generation AMD Opteron 1000 series processors based on DDR 2 memory and dual core technology.

Announcing the launch Mr Rajesh Dhar, Country Manager for Industry standard servers of HP India, told newsmen here that HP aimed to secure 60 per cent of the market share for such servers in the country, whose volume sale annually was estimated at 10,000.

The new server was an easy to use, affordable entry level computing solution built with the needs of Indian SMBs in mind, he said adding that the server was ideal for networking, file and print, shared internet access, small team email and lan infrastructure.

HP and AMD have been jointly working on the new server for the last 18 months, Mr Tony Parkinson, Vice President and General Manager of HP Asia Pacific for Industry Standard Servers said.

AMD and HP have collaborated once again to deliver technology that would help growing businesses maximise their IT budgets with cost effective solutions, Mr Alok Ohrie, Managing Director AMD India said.
