Centre allocates Rs nine crore for REGA in Tripura
Agartala, Apr 04: The Centre has alloted Rs nine crore to Tripura to begin its first phase of work in introducing Rural Employment Guarantee Act (REGA) in West and South districts.
According to official sources here today, the West and South districts were brought under REGA on April first.
More funds would be available from the Centre by next week, the sources added.
REGA was first introduced in Dhalai district last year and with inclusion of West and South districts all three of the four districts had been covered under the REGA so far.
Under the act, importance would be given on development of roads, setting up of water reservoir, irrigation projects, afforestation plan, including rubber cultivation, sources said.
