80 fall ill after eating prasad in West Bengal
Howrah, Apr 4: At least 80 people were admitted to Howrah General Hospital last night when they fell ill after eating ''maha-bhog'' of Sri Chaitannya in Uluberia.
The official sources said the incident took place at Jagadishpur under Uluberia police station when devotees gathered at a prayer meet of Chaitannaya Deb Mahaprabhu on Monday night and later had the ''mahabhog''.
But people who had the prasad started falling ill from Tuesday afternoon and by night 80 people were admitted to hospital, sources said.
However, none of them was stated to be in serious condition.
Doctors have diagnosed them with food poisoning.
