14th SAARC Summit concludes in New Delhi
New Delhi, Apr 4: The two-day 14th SAARC summit concluded here this evening with member nations signing two agreements for the establishment of a South Asian University and a SAARC Food Bank and adopting a joint declaration.
The two pacts were signed by the Foreign Ministers of the eight-member association at the closing ceremony at the Vigyan Bhavan here in the presence of their leaders.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the 15th SAARC Summit would be held in the Maldives.
The Summit saw the admission of Afghanistan as its eighth member and the first time attendance by Observers. China, South Korea, Japan, the United States and the European Union were the Observers at the summit.
