MP: 12 yrs' RI for drug peddling

Neemuch (MP), Apr 4: A special court has sentenced a person to 12 years' rigorous imprisonment on the charge of smuggling smack under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and fined him Rs one lakh.

According to prosecution, Prakashchand Jat, who hails from Gardana village in Chittaurgarh in Rajasthan, was arrested with 1.5 kg smack near Nayagaon in this district on August 22, 2003.

The accused was standing on the side of a road to deliver the smack, hidden in a bag, to some drug peddler when he was arrested.

Judge Anupam Srivastava delivered the verdict on April 2.
