Youth kills mother suspecting her of having immoral character

Nagpur, Apr 3 (UNI) A youth allegedly killed his mother after suspecting her of having an immoral character in a village near Buldhana in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

According to the police, the youth, identified as Nilesh Shrawan Jadhav (26), took his mother Lata Waman Ingle (45), a widow, in his auto-rickshaw on some pretext and pushed the vehicle with the woman sitting inside it, into a well in a field in village Dudha, about 12 km from Buldhana, last night.

Nilesh admitted to the offence during questioning, police said.

Earlier, Nilesh was taken into custody on suspicion since he owned the auto-rickshaw. Besides, his sister, Sangita Pramod Ingle, had said in her complaint to the police that Nilesh suspected their mother's character.

The deceased woman, Lata, had married Shrawan Jadhav several years ago and had two children - Nilesh and Sangita - from him. She later divorced Shrawan and married Waman Ingle, from whom she had a daughter named Sunita, the police said. Waman died about 15 years ago, leaving Lata a widow.

Nilesh was annoyed when a proposal for his stepsister Sunita's marriage was rejected by the prospective groom recently, the police said.

He felt the proposal had been rejected because of his mother's bad reputation, and hence killed her, they said.

The police have registered an offence under sections 302 and 221 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and have arrested Nilesh.
