Uncertainty continues in Lai ADC of Mizoram

Aizawl, Apr 3: Uncertainty continues over the selection of Chief Executive Member in Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), while both MNF and Congress are trying to rein the power in their favour.

Former chief executive member F Manghnuna, an independent member of the council had tendered his resignation last week following move of no confidence by the opposition for alleged misappropriation of funds.

MNF party is the single largest party with nine members in the 23-member ADC while independent has seven members and Congress has seven. But at present, the MNF has only one independent MDC, while Congress has six.

Congress made a sudden move on Friday evening, when Congress MDCs along with six other independent members demanded Mr Manghnuna to show the strength to the Governor, the administrator of district councils in the state.

On the other, acting on a tip-off, police conducted search on Friday night in the house Mr Vandailova, an independent member for possessing illegal arms who giving support to the Congress and recovered a point 22 rifle and a pistol.
