Suspected militants abduct local trader

Silchar, Apr 3 (UNI) Asom police today said suspected militants have kidnapped a trader from near Karkhana Puthni area in Karimganj district.

Subhash Dhar,40, a bamboo trader, was abducted by suspected militants while he was on his way back home at Kukicherra yesterday, police sources said.

However, the local people informed the police today after they found an abandoned motorcycle lying on the road. Later it was confirmed that the bike was owned by the victim, the sources added.

A team of police and para military forces led by Karimganj Superintendent of Police Pradeep Chandra Saloi have launched a search operation in the nearby area to rescue the kidnapped person.
