Steps being taken to bring water to Veedur dam : Rangasamy

Puducherry, Apr 3 (UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps to bring water to Veedur reservoir from Sathannur dam, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the legislative assembly today.

Replying to a question, Mr Rangasamy said already an agreement was there in this regard with the Tamil Nadu government.

The administration was to renew it recently, but the Tamil Nadu officials had sought postponement of the meeting, he said adding the administration would hold discussions with the Tamil Nadu government to renew the agreement and it would be taken up under the 'Bharat Nirman Scheme.' Answering a supplimentary question from PMK member Anantharaman, the Chief Minister said the territorial administration was providing Rs 6 lakh annualy for the maintanance of the Veedur dam.

Replying to another question, Mr Rangasamy said the government would start an engineering college in Karaikal region of the Union territory during next academic year.
