Bangalore, Apr 3 (UNI) Karnataka Assembly Speaker Krishna today referred to the Privileges Committee a breach of privilege notice from senior Congress member Siddaramaiah on his detention by police in Mysore last week following protest by JD(S) members over his presiding over a function.

The Chair's ruling came after Home Minister M P Prakash told the House that the Corps of Detectives have been asked to probe into the issue, in which Mr Siddaramaiah was obstructed by JD(S) men when he went to lay the foundation stone for a healthcare centre in his constituency Chamundeswari in Mysore. However, Mr Prakash said the Government had no objection to the issue being referred to the Privileges Committee.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Mysore had been asked to go leave as a consequence of the action against Mr Siddaramaiah, detained for a few hours following a clash between Congress and JD(S) workers.

Earlier, the House was adjourned for ten minutes by Deputy Speaker N Y Gopalakrishna following a dharna by Opposition Congress members who sought a statement on the issue from Mr Prakash.
