Selection of President depends on UP poll: Narendra Modi
Kanpur, Apr 3 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Narendra Modi said the selection of the country's next President would depend on the results of Uttar Pradesh assembly election.
Addressing an election meeting here last night, Mr Modi said the coming state election would change the destiny of UP and therefore they were very important.
Lambasting the ruling Samajwadi Party and BSP, he claimed that the two parties were dividing people on the basis of caste and not working towards the development of the state.
Rejecting the claims of development made by the Mulayam Singh Yadav government, the Gujarat CM instead highlighted the dismal power situation and unemployment problem in UP.
''Due to corruption among officials, crime rate has increased.
The common man is looking for a change now. Scrapping of Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) by the UPA government is only breeding crime and naxalism in the Country,'' he lamented.
