Satluj Jal to gross generation at 6,720 million units
New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) Public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) plans a gross energy generation of 6,720 million units with an expected revenue realisation of Rs 1,403 crore during 2007-08 from its 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed between Power Secretary Anil Razdan and SJVNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) H K Sharma on Saturday.
The energy generation shall however be subject to 15 per cent mandatory discharge release in the river Satluj as per notification of the government of Himachal Pradesh, and also the availability of water as per the 90 per cent dependable year design water inflows.
The parameters will be subject to change in line with the reduction in the river water inflow, if any observed during the year 2007-08.
The MoU includes targets of construction of the 412 MW Rampur HE Project. As per the targets specified, the Kunni adit of Rampur Project is scheduled to be completed in May 2007 followed by Goshai adit in December 2007 and the Kazo adit in February 2008. The agreement also provides for excavation of 900 meters of the 15 kms long Head Race Tunnel by February 2008. The Electro Mechanical Works of this project are planned to be awarded in August 2007 as per the terms of the MoU.
The MoU further spells out schedules for submission of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of other projects -- 700 MW Luhri HE Project in August 2007, 36 MW Jakhol Sankari HE Project in January 2008 and 34.5 MW Naitwar Mori HE Project in August 2007.
The Dynamic Parameters of the MoU also include initial processing for obtaining ISO 14001 for environment and R&R activities of the Rampur HE Project besides imparting training to 200 employees of the company during the year 2007-08.
As per the terms of the agreement, the Ministry of Power will assist SJVNL to be designated as schedule 'A' company and also to help join the club of Mini Ratna PSUs. The Ministry will also assist SJVNL in obtaining speedy clearances for its projects from various statutory authorities.
It will also provide necessary help to SJVNL for full and timely realisation of its dues from its beneficiary/bulk consumers and State Electricity Boards. The company had entered the august club of selected Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) in 2004-05, who sign the MoU with the government every year.
During the financial year 2006-07, the company's 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Power Station has achieved a record generation of 5,941 million units. The generation achieved during 2005-06 was only 4,055 million units and during 2004-05 it had generated 5,108 million units of electricity.
