NABARD disbursed Rs 47.90cr in last fiscal

Agartala, Apr 3: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development(NABARD) has released Rs 28.03 crore to Tripura during 2006-07 for Agriculture and Rural Development in the state.

''The amount was released from the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund(RIDF) for various projects during year, achieving a growth of 224 per cent over the previous year,'' NABARD's Tripura Regional Office General Manager Mr V Mohandoss said in a statement here today.

With this release of Rs 28.03, the cumulative amount released reaches at Rs 116.26 crore to the state government. It also released refinance assistance of Rs 1,987 crore to the various banks in the state for a number of developmental purpose during that year.

As developmental and promotional function, NABARD had disbursed a total grant assistance of Rs 10.80 lakh to NGOs, Farms' Clubs among other for promotional functions during the year. It also sanctioned interest free loans agreegating Rs 200.83 lakh through various banks for 243 mini and small dairy nits established by the farmers in the state, under Venture Capital Assistance(VCA) scheme for dairy and poultry sectors taking cumulative number of farmers asisted under the programme to 292 and interest-free loans to Rs 264.46 lakh.

In the Potential Linked Credit Plans(PLPs) for the 2007-08 fiscal year, the NABARD has estimated credit potential of Rs 30.09 crore for Dhalai, Rs 205.58 crpre fpr West, Rs 88.51 crore for South and Rs 46.52 crore for North Tripura Districts respectively the statement said.

The Tripura State Focus Paper, 2007-08 has estimated a total credit projetion of Rs 370.71 crore for disbursement by the banks in the state under priority sector during the coming fiscal year. O this amount, Rs 101.84 crore is for agriculture and allied activities, Rs 45.94 crore for Non-Farm sector and Rs 222.93 crore for other priority sectors, the statement added.
