Pondy: Provide facilities in Karaikal dist court

Puducherry, Apr 3: Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Parliamentary Party leader Prof M Ramadass today urged the territorial administration to take immediate steps to provide all facilities in the Karaikal district court.

In a letter to Puducherry Law Minister E Valsraj, Prof Ramadass pointed out that since the post of the district Munsiff was vacant for the last two years, nearly 750 cases were pending in Karaikal court.

Urging Mr Valsaraj to take immediate steps to approach the Chief Justice of Madras High Court for immediate appointment of the district munsiff, Prof Ramadass also sought for reopening of the sub-divisional court which would considerably reduce the work load of the district judge and help in speedy disposal of cases.

Since, Karaikal was upgraded into a separate revenue district, a district judge with all judicial powers be posted there, Mr Ramadass said adding the Karaikal Court complex should be constructed at the earliest.
