Mahoba, Apr 3: Congress MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi today addressed a series of election meetings here as part of his ongoing roadshow in the backward Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Mr Gandhi was greeted by a large crowd, wherever he halted to address the people in the run up to the UP assembly poll.

People thronged the venue to catch a glimpse of the young Congress leader, despite the scorching sun and high mercury.

In his speeches, Rahul assured the people that if the Congress returned to power in the state, the party would solve all the problems of the region.

Incidently, it is for the first time that a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family has visited the area.

Rahul also interacted with youngsters in the crowd and thanked the elders for hearing him.

''Non-Congress governments in the last 15 years in Uttar Pradesh have completely stalled development in the state,'' he alleged.

''The opposition parties are responsible for the corruption, poverty, starvation and chaos prevailing in UP,'' he lamented.

Cautioning voters of the ''hollow claims'' made by other political parties, Rahul appealed to the youth of the state to come forward to bring about change.
