Mizoram's Tiger Reserve to get World Bank aid
Aizawl, Apr 3: Centre has included Mizoram's Dampa Tiger Reserve, one of the three tiger habitats of Northeast, for World Bank funding of 2007-08.
State Environment&Forest minister Dr R Lalthangliana said here today Dampa is one among the six India's proposed environment projects for World Bank aid during current fiscal.
The project will cost Rs 80 lakh, said Dr Lalthangliana adding, "since Dampa is a densely forested area and a wildlife hot spot, the state government plans for upgradation of the reserve." Minister further stated that upgradation of the Dampa Tiger Reserve will include employment opportunities as well as eco-sustainable development of surrounding villages of western Mizoram.
