Meghalaya govt awaits Centre's nod on JNNURM
Shillong, Apr 3: Meghalaya Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Paul Lyngdoh today said that the state government was awaiting approval of the union ministry of urban development for implementation of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
Speaking in the Assembly, Mr Lyngdoh said the government would also soon start submitting the detailed project reports (DPRs) to the Centre on infrastructure development under a central scheme for various districts headquarters in the state.
The government was in the process of preparing funds allocation for various projects under this Scheme, Mr Lyngdoh told the House during the Question Hour.
He also said the National Building Construction Corporation(NBCC) and Hindustan Prefav Limited had been appointed to help in the preparation of the DPRs.
To a question of Congress MLA Friday Lyngdoh, Mr Lyngdoh said the JNNURM is a seven year mission covering the period of 2005-06 to 2011-2012.
He said the main schemes that had been prepared and submitted to the union ministry of Urban Development include Drainage Master Plan for Shillong (Phase-1) for Rs 84.49 crore, Water Supply, Sewerage and Drainage (Phase-1) for New Shillong Township for Rs 52.36 crore and reconstruction of Polo market for Rs 24.26 crore.
