Lay down arms by April 8, says Nepal Govt
Kathmandu, Apr 3: Nepal Government has appealed to its citizens to surrender all unauthorised and illegal weapons to the local administration within seven days, saying stringent statutory action would taken aganist those not falling in line.
After seven days, the government will take legal action against any individual, group, organisation or political party found possessing, carrying or brandishing arms beyond the April 8 deadline, Home Minister Krishna Sitaula said.
''The government won't tolerate any person or group possessing arms under any pretext, Mr Sitaula was quoted as saying.
The announcement comes ahead of the constituent assembly elections to be slated for June 20.
