Korea seeks SAARC coop in defusing N Korea Nuke crisis
New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) South Korea today sought the continued support of SAARC for resolving the North Korean nuclear issue.
South Korean Foreign and Trade Minister Song Min-Soon, in his address at the inaugural session of the 14th SAARC Summit here, expressed confidence that tehe process of resolving the issue would continue to move forward.
''With the continued support of the international community, including the SAARC member countries, I am confident that the process of resolving the North Korean nuclear issue will continue to move forward. I look to the SAARC member countries for their continued support in this regard,'' he said.
Korea, US, EU, Japan and China, for the first time, attended the 14th SAARC Summit as a Observers.
Mr Song Min-Soon said the vestiges of the cold war still linger on the Korean Peninsula and the Republic of Korea had been exerting every effort to achieve lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
He hoped that SAARC would continue to play a leading role for promoting peace and prosperity in South Asia.
