Kaloo: Only editor from Srinagar at Aziz's news conference

Srinagar, Apr 3 (UNI) For the first time ever, an Editor from Srinagar-based newspapers -- both English and Urdu -- was among the select invitees to a news conference addressed by Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in New Delhi today.

Mr Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo, the Printer, Publisher and Editor of Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Uzma, the leading English and Urdu newspapers respectively, was the only Srinagar-based media personality invited to the event.

Mr Aziz addressed the news conference of editors on the margins of the 14th SAARC Summit at Hotel Taj Mansingh in New Delhi.

This was the first time that a Srinagar-based editor was invited to any such event.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had called a similar news conference of editors during his Summit meeting with the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Agra in July 2001, but had invited nobody from Srinagar.

However, Mr Ved Bhasin of the Jammu-based Kashmir Times was invited to the news conference.
