Former DGP surrenders in CBI Court, granted bail

Dehradun, Apr 3 (UNI) Former Uttarakhand DGP Prem Datt Raturi today surrendered before the local CBI Court in connection with the Sub Inspector recruitment scam.

He was later granted bail.

Special Judge (Extention CBI) B S Dugtal asked him to deposit two bail bonds of Rs 25,000 each.

The former DGP was chargesheeted on November 11, 2006 for his alleged involvement in rigging the recruitment result of 253 candidates for the post of sub inspector conducted by IIT Roorkee.

The Nainital High Court had ordered a CBI probe into the matter after 15 of the unsuccessful candidates filed a petition. They had alleged that several candidates who had failed in the written examination were called for interview and selected.

Earlier, Additional DGP R K Mittal, another accused in the case, had also surrendered and granted bail on March 28 by the same court.
