Denied jammer vehicle, Munda returns security facilities

Ranchi, Apr 3 (UNI) Peeved at the state government's decision to withdraw his jammer vehicle, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Arjun Munda today returned the security facilities provided by the Jharkhand government.

Mr Munda, in a letter to the state Home Secretary said that he being the Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister did not want to depend on the ''sympathy'' of the government and asked him to withdraw the security ring provided to him.

He said he made mention of the inadequate security attached to him to the department concerned but the DGP of Special Branch in a letter on March 3 last showed that the government was nab serious about ''security of others.'' The present Madhu Koda-led UPA government thought that security arrangement provided to him was a ''luxury and hence a liability'', Mr Munda said.

The March 3-letter by the DGP, Special Branch ordered withdrawal of jammer vehicles from former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and former Home Minister Sudesh Mahto besides Mr Munda.
