'CPI(M) support to Mulayam blow to left ideology'

Varanasi, Apr 3: Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) today said the left ideology suffered a body blow in the country after the Nandigram and Singur episodes in West Bengal. Besides, the party also assailed the CPI(M)'s continued support to 'anti-people' Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh. ''The Nandigram and Singur episodes in the CPI(M) ruled WB have rendered a body blow to the proliferation of left ideology. The situation has been aggravated with the CPI(M) supporting the anti-people Samajwadi Party-led government in UP,'' state CPI(ML) secretary Akhilendra Pratap Singh told newspersons here.

The CPI(ML) leader, however, said the CPI along with other left outfits is still working religiously to wage struggle for people's issues.

Releasing the party manifesto, Mr Singh said the CPI(ML) is contesting the UP poll for furtherance of a people agenda, including an end to the concept of SEZ and providing foodgrain and kerosene to people on concessional rate.

''We stand by our committment to provide foodgrain and kerosene oil at Rs two per kg and providing red ration cards to all below poverty line families.'' Announcing that CPI(ML) will contest the poll on 35 seats in UP, besides supporting Jan Morcha and NCP candidates on other seats, Mr Singh said the party is for extending the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (REGS) in all districts of UP, besides abolishing the use of police force and Section 144 in dealing with public movements.
