Asha SWarup is new I and B Secretary

New Delhi, Apr 3 (UNI) Ms Asha Swarup will be the new Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting (I and B) Ministry, replacing Mr S K Arora.

Mr Arora, a 1971 batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, will be the new Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

He succeeds Mr Madhukar Gupta, who has taken over as the Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on March 31 in the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr V K Duggal.

Ms Asha Swarup, a 1973 batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, is at present Special Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Commerce and Industry.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has also approved the appointment of Ms Rajwant Sandhu, who belongs to the 1975 batch of the Himachal Pradesh cadre of the IAS, as the new Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.
