5 killed, 700 houses gutted in UP

Gorakhpur, Apr 3 (UNI) At least five people died and about 700 houses were burnt in several fire incidents in the last 24 hours in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The fire incidents were reported in Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Deoria, Ballia and Siddharthnagar districts.

While, two persons, including a five-year-old child and an elderly woman, died in Kushinagar, three others lost their lives in Siddharthnagar, police said.

A large number of animals were also reported killed in the blaze.

The losses due to the fires has estimated at over Rs 50 lakh.
