10th standard Social Science exam postponed from Apr 5 to 11

Chennai, Apr 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today announced postponement of the tenth standard Social Science exam from April five in view of the alleged leak of the question paper.

Making a statement under Rule 110 in the state Assembly, School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said new question papers would be printed and the exam would now be held on April 11 in 2634 centres in Tamil Nadu and Pudhucherry.

He said the question papers were allegedly stolen from the main centre situated at the Allinagaram Government Higher Secondary school.

Following reports that the window grills of the room, where the exam papers were stored, were found broken, senior officials including Chief Educational Officer and the Controller of examinations, examined the almirah and found that the wrappers of two bundles of Social Science question papers were torn.

When they counted it, one question paper were found missing from each of the bundles.

''Since there is a possibility of the question paper being leaked, the government decided to postpone the examination by printing fresh question papers'', Mr Thennarasu said and added that an official complaint had been lodged with the police by the Chief Educational Officer.

Inquiry was also being held against the security personnel who were on duty and the official controllers of that Centre.
