Two jawans killed
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 2 (UNI) Two jawans were today injured, one of them seriously, in an encounter with naxals at Veerpuram village in the South Bastar region early today, police said.
Konta Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Govardhan Thakur told UNI that jawans of Mizoram Battalion were patrolling the area when the extremists launched an attack.
Head constable Neepni and constable Bona were injured. The condition of the head constable was stated to be serious. Both of them were being brought to the Golapalli station. A helicopter had been demanded from the state government.
Naxals had unleashed an attack on Maraiguda police station and relief camp last night for the third time leading to an hour-long encounter between police and the ultras. However, no casualty was reported.
