Secular forces strengthened with RJD in Palamu: Lalu-Rabri

Patna, Apr 2(UNI) Overwhelmed with the victory of RJD's Ghuran Ram from Palamu Lok Sabha seat, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi said that the secular forces would be further strengthened in Jharkhand.

Soon after the election results were declared, the duo in their message, said that the victory of the party was a major boost to the the six-month-old UPA government.

Both the leaders thanked the people of Palamu for showing confidence in the party and assured to fulfil promises made during the elections by their party leaders.

They said the RJD would strive to keep the communal forces at bay and it had succeeded in its mission in Jharkhand.

Ghuran Ram of RJD defeated the BSP candidate Kameshwar Baitha by a margin of 22,327 votes during the by-elections for Palamu Lok Sabha seat necessitated as RJD MP Manoj Bhuiyan had to relinquish his membership following exposure of his involvement in the cash-for- query scam.
