SAARC approves visa stickers for journalists
New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) In a major step to boost free flow of information in the region, the SAARC Council of Ministers today decided to issue stickers and visas to 50 journalists from each of the member-nations of the regional grouping.
Briefing reporters on the outcome of the day-long meeting ahead of the two-day 14th SAARC Summit, Foreign Secretary Shivshanker Menon said the immigration officials of the SAARC nations would be directed in due course to take steps to implement the decision taken by the Council of Ministers.
Journalists from SAARC countries have for long been demanding a liberalised visa regime for them for travelling in the region.
