'Probe against Mayawati-Mulayam, if BJP comes to power'

Varanasi, Apr 2 (UNI) The BJP today announced that if elected to power in Uttar Pradesh, the Kalyan Singh-led government will order an inquiry into the alleged scams during the previous regimes of Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP president Mayawati.

''The previous governments led by Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav have crossed all limits of corruption. Within a month from assuming power, we will order a high-level probe into the corruption during the previous BSP and SP regimes,'' BJP general secretary Vinay Katiyar said, addressing a public meeting in Cholapur here.

''The probe will not only be ordered against the two previous CMs and their ministerial colleagues, but will also cover the bureaucracy, which has played an integral role in all scams,'' Mr Katiyar maintained.

''Once the probe is completed the guilty politicians and bureaucrats will be punished.'' Mr Katiyar, claiming the assembly polls will pave the way for UP's revival, called upon the BJP workers to act like Lord Hanuman to destroy the 'Lanka' of corruption built by Congress, SP and BSP.

Exuding confidence that Kalyan Singh is all set to assume power in the state with a majority to the party in the assembly polls, Mr Katiyar said ''if at all BJP fails in winning majority, it will not support any other party in forming the government.'' ''Only a government led by Kalyan Singh is acceptable. If it does actualise, then the state should be ready to go for another snap assembly poll,'' Mr Katiyar announced.
