Presence of box on road create panic in old Srinagar town

Srinagar, Apr 2 (UNI) An unclaimed box in the middle of the road at Karan Nagar chowk in the old city created panic, forcing authorities to suspend traffic and summon Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).

People ran for safety and traffic was suspended after rumours spread that a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) kept in a box was planted at the busy chowk today.

Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel posted in the area suspended traffic on all roads, including one leading to the office of Director General of police and other senior officers.

Shopkeepers in the area were directed to leave the area and traffic diverted to other routes.

Later, the BDS removed the box and found nothing in it.
