Opposition MLAs stage walk-out in Rajasthan assembly

Jaipur, April 2 (UNI) Opposition members in the Vidhan Sabha today staged a walkout protesting the huge backlog that still exists in filling up of posts earmarked for Scheduled Caste/Tribes.

During Zero Hour, Congress legislator Babulal Nagar and eight others wanted a debate on the issue. But Speaker Sumitra Singh denied permission saying the House had already deliberated over the issue.

However, Mr Nagar and Lok Janshakti Party's Ranvir Singh Guda and Bahujan Samaj Party's Murari Lal Meena asked the government to come clear on the issue of reservation and filling up of the vacant posts.

At this, the treasury benches and Opposition legislatures started trading charges at each other.

Opposition leader Ram Narain Choudhary also wanted a clarification on the matter from the government. Parliamentary Affairs minister Rajendra Rathore said that the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had already clarified the government's stand on the matter in her budget speech.

Criticising the government's take on the issue, Mr Choudhary announced a walk-out by Opposition members.
