One day old baby girl found abandoned

Coimbatore, April 2 (UNI) A one-day-old baby girl was found abandoned amidst bushes in Sulur outskirts of the city here last evening.

Police said the baby was found by one Mr Rajan near Kurumbapalayam village on the Avinashi road. He handed over the baby to the police. and was later taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Hospital sources said the baby weighing around 3.5 kg, was healthy now.

This was the sixth baby rescued since January this year. After giving some treatment they were handed over to homes for children, the sources added.
