OBC reservation: K'taka Govt to pass unanimous resolution
Bangalore, Apr 2 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today decided to pass a unanimous resolution to strengthen the hands of the Centre to implement 27 per cent resevation for Other Backward Classes in higher educational institutions in the wake of the Supreme Court staying the reservation.
As soon as the Legislative Assembly met, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N Dharam Singh sought to move a resolution on the issue.
Replying, Home, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M P Prakash said it would be better if the State Government took the lead in passing such a resolution.
Members of the Congress, CPI(M) and Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha expressed full support to the State Government moving such a resolution, stating that it would help the Centre as many other States have expressed their support by passing such resolutions.
Speaker Krishna instructed the Government to hold a meeting in the afternoon to work out the modalities.
