Normalcy returns to Kolar

Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka, Apr 2 (UNI) The situation in Somayajapalli and Srinivasapur taluk in Kolar district, which witnessed violent incidents for the last two days following the murder of a Congress leader, remained peaceful today.

Violence erupted in the areas following the hacking of Congress leader N Srinivas allegedly by JD(S) workers at Channayagaripalli on March 31. The Congress workers had set afire hutments vehicles and damaged buildings belonging to the JD(S) workers.

Police have arrested nine people, including prime accused Muniraja Reddy, and were on the look out for the other accused.

Police had made elaborate arrangements in the taluk to avert any further trouble, Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Surface Transport K H Muniyappa visited Somajayalahalli and met the next of kin of the deceased.
