MP Cong demands sacking of cops who aided bandit
Morena, MP, Apr 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's main opposition Congress today demanded the dismissal of police personnel who were in contact over cellphone with dacoit Jagjivan Parihar during a recent encounter in which the bandit was eliminated.
''Criminal cases should be lodged against those personnel whose links were exposed to the press by the Inspector-General (Chambal Range) after the encounter. The officer said that the personnel were hand-in-glove with dacoits and passed on information,'' Pradesh Congress Committee Vice-President Sobran Singh Mawai told mediapersons here.
Demanding that the political persons -- with whom Parihar spoke during the encounter -- should be exposed, Mr Mawai added that a case be registered under the Anti-Dacoity Act.
''Hail-affected farmers are not receiving compensation amounts that are being given to undeserving people. The villages concerned ought to be resurveyed,'' he felt.
Alleging that roads laid under the Prime Minister's Rural Roads Scheme lacked quality as the construction involved influential people owing allegiance to the state's ruling party, Mr Mawai added that the agency undertaking the road-laying should be changed forthwith and a Lokayukta probe ordered into corruption in such construction.
